Company

easy2cool GmbH is a company which specialises in individual, passive cooling solutions and provides holistic cooling concepts for the protection of temperature-sensitive goods.

We wanted to create a sustainable alternative for insulating packaging which would be second to none in terms of performance and transport safety. Insulation systems for cooling shipment are usually made of expanded polystyrene (EPS) and plastics. Due to high energy demand for production and enormously problematic disposal, an immense pollution for climate, water and soil evolves. The solution: a new sustainable insulation material, that we have developed in a joint research project with TU Dresden. The basic material is simple and efficient at the same time – recycled paper!

Our product range includes solutions for end users as well as cooling systems for transport and logistics. Depending on the application, these concepts are customised for our clients in terms of size and performance to ensure the best possible implementation.

ZIM Cooperation Project of the Year

On the occasion of the Innovation Day for Medium Sized Companies (SMEs) 2021, easy2cool GmbH was honoured by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) as ZIM Cooperation Project of the Year for the development of the ecological paperfloc insulating packaging. At the event, Economics Minister Peter Altmaier praised the award winners as “the pulsating powerhouse of our national economy and a constant source of entrepreneurial creativity”.

The paperfloc technology was developed in cooperation with TU Dresden (Institute of Natural Materials Technology) as part of a ZIM R&D cooperation project.

History

Since its foundation 2014 in Munich, easy2cool GmbH has been turning its vision into its mission: “The protection of temperature-sensitive goods anytime, anywhere”.

Since then, we have consistently expanded to become a leading supplier of integrated cooling concepts for transport and logistics in German-speaking Europe. Beginning as a garage start-up, producing cooling packs in the home garage, we have now reached a staff size of more than 70 employees. Since 2015, we produce our insulation packaging and cooling packs at our facility in Lichtenfels (Upper Franconia, Bavaria) – ensuring highest flexibility and quality!

It all began in 2014: easy2cool founders Marco Knobloch and Sebastian Leicht launch the production of cold packs in their home garage.
2015: Just one year later, the company, including production, moves to the new site in Lichtenfels.
In 2016 the first samples of the innovative and ecological insulating packaging, then called easyfloc, were produced.
In 2017, easy2cool launches a crowdfunding campaign for the Festival Cooler – the first sustainable cooler made of paper.
2018 is a year of celebration: easy2cool wins the German Packaging Award.
2020 – a year of change: easy2cool invests in the largest expansion since the company was founded and expands its production capacities.
2021: The demand for individual customer solutions is increasing. For this reason, easy2cool is expanding its laboratory and development area.
2022: easy2cool GmbH is awarded by Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger and is one of Bavaria’s Best 50!
2022: The new paperfloc eco packaging is launched!
